Understanding Microblading

Naturally perfect eyebrows are few and far between, however microblading makes it possible to achieve super natural looking brows, which are the nearest thing to natural perfection!

6D Microblading is the latest form of permanent make-up and is a relatively new technique of enhancing the appearance of eyebrows with the use of an ultra-thin blade.  This blade is a grouping of extremely fine needles affixed to a hand tool to manually create clean and crisp lines that resemble eyebrow hairs. Natural pigment is deposited into the upper dermal layer of the skin, making it semi-permanent for 1 – 2 years, depending on the skin type and client’s lifestyle.

This technique will result in thin and defined hair strokes as oppose to the conventional permanent make-up machine which can create a solid and unnatural ‘drawn on’ look.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that enhances the appearance of eyebrows. It involves using a handheld tool with tiny needles to create fine, hair-like strokes by depositing pigment into the skin’s superficial layer. This technique mimics natural eyebrow hairs, giving the brows a fuller, more defined look.

Because the pigment is placed closer to the surface than in traditional tattooing, microblading typically lasts between 1 to 3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

People often choose microblading to:

– Fill in sparse or thin eyebrows

– Define the shape of their brows

– Save time on daily makeup routines

What to expect at your appointment

1. Consultation
The artist discusses the client’s desired eyebrow shape, color, and overall look. They assess the natural brow shape, skin type, and any medical considerations.

2. Preparation & Mapping
The brows are cleaned and sometimes numbed with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort. Then, the artist uses a pencil or marker to draw the outline and shape of the brows, measuring carefully to ensure symmetry and the best fit for the client’s face.

3. Pigment Selection
The artist selects a pigment color that matches or complements the client’s natural brow color and skin tone.

4. Microblading Process
Using a handheld microblading tool with tiny needles, the artist makes fine, hair-like strokes by depositing pigment into the superficial layer of the skin following the drawn shape. This can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on the detail and client’s needs.

5. Pigment Application
After the strokes are created, more pigment may be applied on top to ensure saturation.

6. Cleaning and Aftercare Instructions
The artist cleans the area and provides the client with aftercare instructions, which usually include keeping the brows dry, avoiding makeup on the area, not picking at scabs, and applying healing ointments if recommended.
